I've toyed with Apple over the years, but I never went to the other side of the fence for some reason. There were times when I came close but I just never felt confident enough to throw off the security blanket that PCs and loads of brilliant software provided for me.
I've got a Toshiba Satellite laptop that I've had for three years now. I like it - it's fast, powerful, reliable and I know its little foibles. It also weighs a ton, the battery lasts about 15 minutes, and it produces enough heat out of the side to toast bread. So for some time now I've had it in my head to buy a smaller, lighter laptop to carry about when I'm travelling. Access email, edit documents, find the nearest shirt shop - that kind of thing. And I was right on the point of buying a cute little Acer when my daughter gave me a tablet PC.
